KARMA
THE SECRETS OF KARMA
LIFE IS AN ART
A - ACCEPTANCE R - RESPONSIBLE T - TOLERANCE
ACCEPTANCE :-"There are seasons and reasons". There are reasons why.no matter what you do sometimes certain conditions do no change. Many things happen in our lif due to reasons beyond our comprehension.there is an intersecting episode in Mahabharata has brings light to do this.
king Shantanu proposed his intension to marry Ganga forwhich she agreed on the condition that he would never question any of her actions. Driven by the passion Shantanu agrred to this,Later Ganga gave a birh to her first son,but soon after delivery she took the newborn to the river and drowned him. Bound by his word the king didn't ask her anything.A year later when she delivered the second son she drowned him too; and in this way she drowned seven newborns. but when Ganga was about to drown king shantanu's eighth child,he could not hold himself and Shouted," stop,Let him live." Ganga Stopped and said, "Since you have broken your word,I have to leave you. The children whom i killed seven of eight deities, cursed to be born as mortals or the bad karma of stealing the sage vasishta's goes.On their request, I became their mother and tried to keep their stay on earth brief to save them from misery of early existence. This eigth one you have saved will live ,but it shall be a life full o misery for him." There are times you have to let o and accept things the way they are as it has a greater purpose. If you resist and react, you can cause more harm to yourself. The elders say,"if your hands are trapped under the rock, pulling them out by force will only damage your hands more." Therefore have patience and ait for the right time to come.
RESPONSIBLE :-
No matter what the condition of one's life is, it is often the result o the choices he or she has made int he past .The following story in Mahabaratha is a wonderful cursor to this:
After winning the hands of Draupathi in he archery competition, Arjuna returns home along with his brothers and proudy proclaims, "Mother see what i have won in the competition!" Mother kunti was praying t hat moment and without turning around ,she said: "Whatever i tis ,share it equally mong all the five of you. "When kunti turned, she found a beautiful women Draupati with Arjun and as surprised and shocked to realise what she had said. She was in deep pain to realise that Arjuna has to share his bride with his brothers, as it was a custom to obey the words of a mother.
At that momenet, Krishna arrives and consoles kunti, "There is nothing that jhappens in one's life, "Krishna said, "without a reason. All that happens is a resut of one's own choices, and no one is responsible for it." He then tells Kunti about the penance of draupathi in her previous life, invoking
Lord shiva to bestow her wih the boon of having a husband who is Honest, strong, Skilled, handsome and Knowledgeable.
Since single man, except god, can have all those virtues,
Lord shiva blessed her that she will marry five men in her next life, each having one of those qualities Draupadi was looking for. "Thus," Krishna told kunti, "Draupathi ws destined o marry five men as per her wish, and it is not your fault."
Some lessons have to be learnt, and no one can change it .Therefore, there are times when you will not be able to help others beyond a certain level and need to let person live and lern according to the choices he or she has made. And this is true for you as well . your lifr is a product of the choices you have made in the past, and no one excepting you is responsible for whtever you need to endure or experience.
TOLERANCE :- "Father ,forgive them;for they know not what they do." -Jesus Christ True tolerance stems from deep comparision,It gives inner strength and Wisdom to accept people as they re and bring long-term solutions to many issues. Some peple keep repeating mistakes, inflicting much pain on othrs. The Masters call them ' young souls', and sometimes, in a lighter spirit, 'green mangoes"! They cannot act like an 'old soul' who has travelled a 'long journey.' So you may have to deal with them gently like saplings until them patiently, the way you may would handle infants;and nurture them gently like saplings until their 'roots' are stong. sometimes even spiritula teachers tend to be intolerant with others who do not agree with their way of life or understanding ,There is an interesting episode in tht HoLy Bible Abraham about prophet being reminded of the virtue of tolerance by the Lord Himself: ONCE a traveller came to prophet Abraham while he was in the dessert, and Abraham offered food and water to him. Then Abraham asked the travelller to praise God, but he refused, saying: "I know nothing about your god." Abraham got furious and sent the traveller out of the tent. At that momenet ,Lord appeared and asked Abraham: "Why did you send away the poor traveller?" Abraham replied: "Lord ,he refused to take your Holy name. He is a terrible infidel." The Lord said : "I have tolerated him for sixty years .Surely you can bear with him for day!" DO not judge anyone's way of life and be kind to those striving to grow, for you, too, was like them a some point, and someone had to tolerate you! Besides, you can grow only by helping others grow. Tolerance is a spiritual strength. It is the virtue that enables one to bring out excelence in others. In his book 'Living with himalayan Masters', the great saint swamy Rama talks about how his revered Guru tolerated his poor manners and groomed him with patience. IN many institutions, the the students or diciples with many weakness are patiently nurtured with love , and they eventually become mighty souls, who then act as supporting pillars of those organizations. However , you should balance tolerance with severity to prevent indiscipline and disorder.
